MAWDC Monthly Meeting: September

  • 06 Sep 2021
  • 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • virtual via Zoom

For our September meeting we're talkin' truffle with Oregon hypogeous fungi expert Dr. Michael Castellano.

Truffles are widely abundant in the temperate forest here, but of no culinary value, and that's a real shame because culinary truffles' voluptuous aroma is truly sublime.  It's no wonder they're the world's most expensive foodstuff.  So I'm sorry to say, you'll still have to go to Italy to dig your own summer black truffles, but at least now, if you choose to do so, you'll be well informed on the secret lives of truffles.

This monthly meeting is being conducted as a special event, a lecture followed by a foray led by the speaker.  Yes, this month we'll meet in PERSON!  Our first in person monthly meeting since the pandemic began.  We're still working on the details, but we'll share info in this meeting notice as it becomes available.

In closing, if you have a chance, I'd recommend you watch this film beforehand.  It's a lovely piece of art about Italy's truffle hunters, and their priceless truffle dogs.

We'll try to be virtual again this month too, we hope, via Zoom.  Here are the login credentials, including passcode should you need it.
