Come join MAW for a weekend of mushrooming activities in the Laurel Highlands of southwestern Pennsylvania. Our foray at the Sequanota conference center has been an annual MAW event for more than 35 years, and it's a great opportunity to quickly advance your ID skills, get to know other mushroom enthusiasts, and have a lot of fun.
Our guest mycologists this year will be Thomas Roehl & Django Grootmyers. Many of you will remember Thomas from his time at MAWDC a few short years ago before departing to further his mycological studies at University of Wisconsin. Django too will be familiar for many as a guest mycologist, and mycological savant from past years at the West Virginia Mushroom Foray. Django is pursuing a doctorate from the University of Tennessee, and we couldn't be happier to have him and Thomas as guest mycos this year, and we're sure you will too!
In addition, we're going to hear a lecture from Kevin Dodge of Garrett College MD about the flora and geology of high altitude cranberry bogs. These highly unique environments are incredibly fascinating, like Spruce Flats Bog, which we'll visit on Saturday afternoon on foray.
Full weekend participation includes 5 meals (Friday evening to Sunday breakfast) and access to all programs. Saturday-only participation includes 3 meals on Saturday and access to all Saturday programs.
Due to the nature of the shared meals and facilities and the close interactions between individuals that are necessary for this event, the MAWDC organizers feel it necessary that participants be vaccinated in order to participate. This is the only practical method to ensure the safety and health of the attendees and the staff of Sequanota. Mask usage is encouraged.
