MAWDC Monthly Meeting: August

  • 04 Aug 2020
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • On-line via Zoom

For our August meeting we're going to hear from MAWDC's new science advisor, USDA mycologist Dr. Megan Romberg, as she provides an overview of some often overlooked members of kingdom fungi: the rusts, smuts, mildews, and molds.  In a presentation titled 'The Fungi in Your Neighborhood', we're going to have an opportunity to better understand and appreciate these ubiquitous yet oft overlooked fungi, so please come join us (online) for an informative and entertaining evening.

In addition, we're going to learn about an honorary member of kingdom fungi, the slime molds, from La Monte Yarroll of the Western PA Mushroom club.  If you don't know about slime molds, you don't know what you've been missing; slime molds are fascinating creatures.

There you have it, it'll be a night of rusts, smuts, mildews, molds ... and slime.  Where else but MAWDC, I say, could you ever find such an entertaining evening?  We hope to see you there!

Our meeting will once again be virtual via the popular Zoom platform.  Please click on the following link, and follow the on-screen instructions to join:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/5201628225

NOTE: For a visual demonstration during the main presentation, it would helpful to have a metric ruler on hand.
