MAW Monthly Meeting: April

  • 02 Apr 2019
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Kensington Park Library: 4201 Knowles Ave, Kensington, MD 20895

For our April meeting, we're very excited to have one of the best field mycologists of the central Appalachians, Walt Sturgeon.

Many of you will need no introduction to this month's speaker as Walt's been an incredibly active member in the amateur mycology community for many years, as well as the author of several field guides.  His most recent offering, Appalachian Mushrooms: A Field Guide, is a work that's sure to find a home in many of our foray knapsacks.  A few signed copies will be available for purchase at the meeting.

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Walt, he's an entertaining and extremely knowledgeable mushroom hunter who's been recognized on multiple occasions for his many contributions to amateur mycology.  He's also one of the founders of the Ohio Mushroom Society, where his board position is simply listed as mushroom guru.

We encourage you come join us at our April meeting, and hear what the Ohio mushroom guru has to share.

PS: If you're interested, here're a couple of well written articles about our endlessly fascinating 5th kingdom.  Enjoy!
